Cocktails & Conversation: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the age range for events?
All guests over 18 are welcome. However, most attendees are in their late 20s, 30s, and 40s.
Do I have to be a member to attend events?
Yes — all guests must register through the Cocktails & Conversation app and be approved before attending, to help us maintain a safe and high-quality community.
Do I have to pay to attend?
You can either pay for an event on a pay-as-you-go basis, or become a member where entry to most events is included in your membership fee.
What events are not included in the membership fee?
Dining events, wine tastings, third-party events (such as polo or our large-scale balls), and some speed dating evenings that become full-scale events may carry an additional fee. These will always be clearly listed in the event description.
Can I pay on arrival?
No — all guests must pre-book their place in advance, as events typically sell out and we need to maintain an equal gender ratio.
Do you have a balanced gender ratio?
Generally, yes — we aim to sell an equal number of male and female tickets. However, we cannot guarantee that guests will arrive at exactly the same time or that every guest will attend on the day, though we do our best to balance attendance.
What is the dress code?
Most London venues require smart dress, which will be specified in the event description. As a guide, smart jeans are generally acceptable, but trainers and sportswear are not.
What should I bring with me?
Photo ID is usually required by the venue. Having your ticket (printed or on your mobile) is helpful, but not essential, as your name will be on our guest list if you have RSVPed.
What if I can no longer attend?
Memberships and tickets are non-refundable. However, you can access your ticket via the event page under “Manage My Tickets” and issue yourself a credit note up to 48 hours before the event start time.
I met someone — can I cancel my membership?
Memberships are non-refundable and cannot be paused or cancelled partway through the term.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes, friends are welcome to join members. However, they won’t have access to the match and chat features unless they register through the Cocktails & Conversation app and are approved. All guests must have a valid ticket, which can be purchased through the event page.
I’m attending alone — will I feel uncomfortable?
Not at all! Many guests attend alone, and our friendly hosts are there to introduce you to others and help you feel welcome.
What time should I arrive?
We recommend arriving as close to the advertised start time as possible. Entry cut-off times will be specified in the event description.
What is your photography and filming policy?
We regularly film and photograph our events for marketing purposes. If you would like to be excluded from promotional materials, please notify the host on arrival, and we will do our utmost to avoid including you in any published images or video.
How do you keep guests safe?
We do our utmost to ensure the safety of all our members. If you ever feel harassed or unsafe at a Cocktails & Conversation event, please report the issue to the event organiser, who will investigate and resolve the situation as quickly as possible. If there is an immediate threat, please speak to venue security, who are fully trained and licensed to handle serious incidents.
